Abstract: Spatial solitons in nematic liquid crystals (NLC) are optical beams that maintain their transverse profile due to the self-focusing effect of light. The mechanism leading to the formation of solitons can be either light-induced reorientation of the elongated molecules or thermal changes in the refractive index induced by a light beam.
