This work deals with the study of the evolution (with temperature) of the in‐phase (E′) and the out‐of‐phase (E″) moduli of polypropylene/mica composites with improved interfacial interactions by the presence of an industrial waste based interfacial modifier named as p‐phenylen‐bis‐maleamic (pPBMA) acid grafted atactic polypropylene (aPP–pPBMA). This additive contains 15% w/w grafted pPBMA (5.0·10−4 g mol−1) obtained from polymer industrial wastes in the Polymer Engineering Group (GIP) labs. The purpose of the work is twofold. One, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) has been used to evidence the improvement in properties due to the interfacial modifications by the addition of the novel interfacial modifier (aPP–pPBMA). And two, to obtain a mathematical model to predict the DMA moduli of the composite at α and β transition temperatures. So, a Box–Wilson experimental design considering the amount of mica particles and of interfacial agent as independent variables, and the modulus as the dependent ones at each transition was used. Thus, the final purpose of the work is obtaining forecasts for the DMA parameters as a function of the composite components and of the type of temperature dependent relaxation phenomena taking place. In this article, the vacuum assisted resin infusion (VARI) process was employed to prepare anionic polyamide 6/montmorillonite (APA6/MMT) nanocomposites. The ɛ‐caprolactam and MMT mixture are infused into the mold by vacuum. At the same time, the anionic polymerization of ɛ‐caprolactam proceeds all the way which results in fast viscosity rise. To make the VARI process has more practical application value, enough infusion time is necessary. Three types of MMT were chosen in this paper: Na+‐MMT, OMMT‐CTAB, and OMMT‐AUA. In order to study the effects of MMT on infusion process and material's performance, conversion, and temperature test, X‐ray diffraction analysis, transmission electronic microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Molau test, and mechanical test were performed. The results indicated that the OMMT‐AUA can both further improve the material's performance and has longer infusion time for VARI process. POLYM. The nanomaterial effect on the interfacial properties between glass, carbon, and their 1:1 hybrid fiber‐bundle reinforced epoxy resin is evaluated based on fiber‐bundle pull‐out tests. Graphene and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) are incorporated in the interfacial region. Three contents of nanomaterials that including 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% are considered, and the temperatures are set as 25 and 150°C during the pull‐out tests, respectively. The interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of graphene and MWCNT filled interfaces is compared. Results indicate that both the two nanomaterials can improve the IFSS and shear toughness effectively. The IFSS of 0.3 wt% MWCNT filled glass‐carbon/epoxy hybrid specimens is increased by 82% at 150°C, which is the largest among all the specimens. According to scanning electron microscope (SEM) morphologies of fiber surfaces, the IFSS improvements are ascribed to the efficient stress transfer by the enhanced bonding performance after filling nanomaterials in the interphase.
