Objective: To evaluate the impact of the visual identity campaign “CUIDe” (Check, Use, Insert, Disinfect) on the nursing teams’ adherence to the care of patients using enteral feeding tubes. Methods: Open clinical trial applied a checklist of care to patients using enteral feeding tubes, before and after the intervention of a visual identity campaign. The study included 1.038 observations for the intervention group and 1.118 observations for the control group. A Generalized Estimating Equations Model was used for the comparisons. Results: “CUIDe” campaign improved global adherence to the care of patients with enteral feeding tubes (p<0.001). More specifically, improvements seen were related to appropriate control of expiration dates for syringes (p<0.001), detailed labeling of syringes (date/shift) (p<0.002); and administration of the enteral nutrition bottle with the head elevated to 30 degrees (p=0.022). Conclusion: “CUIDe” campaign improved the adherence to safe practices during the care of patients using enteral feeding tubes.
