Abstract: Embryo quality can be determined with a good degree of interobserver agreement independently of the method of evaluation. Embryologists classify embryos with excellent intraobserver reproducibility.

“…However, such an assessment of reproducibility on the qualitative time-lapse parameters of DC, RC, and <6 ICCP at the end of the 4-cell stage has not yet been performed; this requires further investigation. It is anticipated that training embryologists and participation in annotation comparisons may improve the consistency of time-lapse results, in line with previous studies on the conventional embryo grading system [37,38].…”

“…Our scoring method (43) resembles the scoring method that had the most predictive ability in three robust studies on the relationship between embryo quality and implantation except for the scoring of multinucleated blastomeres (13,16,44). The predictive value and reproducibility of the blastomeres scoring have been debated by others (45,46).…”

“…In another paper by Arce et al (2006), more than 15,000 embryos were scored (with the help of an embryo atlas) by a total of 37 local IVF laboratories (Arce et al, 2006). The same embryos were then scored using 2D electronic images, by three 'central' embryologists (interobserver comparison).…”
