Internet of Things as an optimization tool for Smart Airport concept

Abstract: This paper covers the aspects of implementation of the Internet of Things concept into airport operations. It suggests areas that would be closely related to the Internet of Things. These areas mainly concern the handling of passengers or baggage and would be able to speed up the whole process significantly. The second part concerns the increase of passenger comfort by providing various information during their stay at the airport. This new system could significantly improve the quality of travel. “…The performed analyses may also be used to improve aircraft maintenance processes at parking spaces. A similar area was analysed in an article on the implementation of the Internet of Things (Mrňa et al 2021), indicating that the implementation of the concept can speed up the passenger service process. Air carriers strive to automate the process of ticket and baggage handling and minimize the contact between the employee and the traveller.…”

“…"Smart Airport" is the integration of intelligence and informatization and the integration of collaborative work, decision-making mechanisms, and resource optimization (Wang, 2021). The traditional airport information management system is unified and effective through hierarchical integration, which is mainly divided into four levels (the data layer, application server layer, information release layer, and customer layer), and then integrated management is carried out with a unified security guarantee system and management mechanism (Mrna, 2021). The binding relationship between server hardware and operating systems in the traditional data center of operation and maintenance support systems makes it impossible to reuse computing resources between servers, which leads to the waste of resources and the increase of management costs.…”
