“…Also, the country has enjoyed political stability over the years, which is a key ingredient for FDI inflows. The regulatory settings of host countries drive multinational enterprises (MNEs) locational choice (Dike and Rose, 2017). “…The importance of this research method is that it makes it possible to increase the knowledge already present in the literature and so to achieve an in-depth study through a careful, formalised, transparent and replicable research pattern (Tranfield et al , 2003; Booth et al , 2012; Hou and Neely, 2013; Fisch and Block, 2018). This method has been used by various authors in business and management (David and Han, 2004; Thorpe et al , 2005; Colicchia and Strozzi, 2012; Natalicchio et al , 2017; Laura Cordero and Ferreira, 2019), engineering (Budgen and Brereton, 2006), medicine (Trotti et al , 2003; Pihlainen et al , 2016), telecommunication (Dike and Rose, 2017) and banking (Lagasio, 2018) and corporate finance (Kumar and Goyal, 2015; Hoffmann et al , 2018; Farooq and Jibran, 2018; Dezi et al , 2018) field.…”

“…As noted, institutions can also be enabling in promoting and facilitating firm behavior (Hodgson, 2006), and the benefits of distance may exceed its costs in some situations. Firms internationalize into countries with higher-quality institutions for different reasons such as overcoming limitations at home, seeking strategic assets and new technologies or gaining reputation and brand image (Dike and Rose, 2017;Luo and Tung, 2007;Ooi and Richardson, 2019). In this case, a larger institutional distance acts as a driving force and encourages more intensive resource commitment.…”

“…Institutional distance is "one of international business theory's most central constructs" that has a significant appeal and undeniable effectiveness (Zaheer et al, 2012, p. 18), and its impact on entry mode is well documented in the literature (Dike and Rose, 2017). However, the measure of distance traditionally used in the literaturehereafter "simple" institutional distancesuffers from superficiality in research (Shenkar, 2001;Zaheer et al, 2012) and has been criticized as not capturing the asymmetry of distance (Cuervo-Cazurra and Genc, 2011).…”
