“…We note that theoretical predictions do not take into account sudden and temporal ionospheric changes. We have used the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) Model 14 (MacMillan & Maus 2005), along with the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) 2007 15 (Bilitza & Reinisch 2008) to estimate the ionospheric RM during the observations. It has been found that the ionospheric RM above the ATCA is negative (geomagnetic field points away from the center of the earth) and that above the WSRT is positive (geomagnetic field points toward the center of the earth) with a magnitude 1 rad m −2 , which is consistent with the estimation reported by Tinbergen (1996).…”
