International comparison EUROMET.RI(I)-S2 of extrapolation chamber measurements of the absorbed dose rate in tissue for beta radiation (EUROMET project No 739): Final report

Abstract: For quality assurance in the realization and transfer by the national standard laboratories of the unit of the absorbed dose rate at 0.07 mm tissue depth for beta radiation, comparison measurements among the primary standard facilities are needed. Although some bilateral comparisons have taken place for this quantity, the CCRI decided in May 2003 that a EUROMET supplementary comparison would be appropriate if inclusive of primary standards laboratories of other regional metrology organizations. The operation … Show more

“…Entre 2004 et 2007, le LNE-LNHB a participé à une comparaison européenne (Euromet.RI(I)-S2) organisée entre huit laboratoires nationaux de métrologie [6] pour comparer les mesures de débit de dose absorbée dans les tissus. Pour cette comparaison, une chambre d'ionisation de transfert ainsi que son système de mesure ont circulé entre les différents laboratoires participants.…”

“…This chamber fulfils the above-mentioned criterion of a factor 1.1 for beta radiation from the sources 90 Sr + 90 Y, 85 Kr, 204 Tl and 147 Pm, see figure 6. A similar chamber is the main part of a EUROMET intercomparison of the absorbed dose rate in tissue for beta radiation, see Behrens et al [44].…”
