“…ECA&D (European Climate Assessment & Dataset;Klein Tank et al, 2002;Klok and Klein Tank, 2009) and ICA&D components (International Climate Assessment & Dataset; Van Den Besselaar et al, 2015), and globally, e.g. GHCN-D (Global Historical Climatology Network-Daily; Menne et al, 2012), they are limited in geographical domain (ECA&D, ICA&D), temporal integration (GHCN-D), and often to a narrow subset of variables (all to some extent).…”

“…Furthermore, there is an increasing need for high-quality discovery and observational metadata: indicators of quality and uncertainties, in addition to known changes in measurement techniques, practices, locations and siting environments. Such data and metadata are essential in provision of scientifically robust climate services (Van Den Besselaar et al, 2015).…”

“…In order to support researchers that rely on monthly weather station databases to develop interpolated grids or other climate data products, we assemble and cross‐check a monthly weather station database for precipitation that combines several regional and global databases that are publicly available, including the Global Historic Climate Network (GHCN) v2 database (Lawrimore et al , ; Menne et al , ), the station database corresponding to the Climate Research Unit (CRU) Time Series v3.21 interpolated data set (Harris et al , ), the WMO‐CLINO database of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO, ), the FAOCLIM 2.0 database of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Bogaert et al, ), the R‐ HydroNET database of the Regional Hydrometeorological Data Network for Latin America (Vorosmarty et al , ), the European Climate Assessment (ECA) database (Tank et al , ; Besselaar et al , ) and the United States Forest Service (USFS) database (Rehfeldt, ). We use duplicate entries, digital elevation models and nearby stations to search for inconsistencies in recorded climate values in weather station records that may be due to unit conversion errors, location and elevation inaccuracies.…”

“…Temperature series of Jakarta and some surrounding stations are retrieved from the Southeast Asia Climate Assessment and Dataset (SACA&D, http://sacad. database.bmkg.go.id, van den Besselaar et al, 2015). Data in SACA&D go through a basic quality control, where data flagged as 'suspect' are ignored in further processing.…”
