International association of logopedics and phoniatrics (IALP) voice committee discussion of assessment topics

Abstract: In my report I made two recommendations: that we call the vertical axis either vocal fold contact area or we call it conductance or something of that ilk. I agree with Dr. Titze that it is not possible to scale that vertical axis. There is unlikely to be a linear transform of the vocal fold contact area. I tend to support his recommendation that we not call it vocal fold contact area per se, although that term has appeared in the literature in the last several years. I do not know of a good alternative term. C… Show more

“…8,30,39,40 Only precise target tone sounds, sustained for at least 2 seconds with two or more values within 2 dBA after repeated test conditions of the target tone were registered on an original, modified by squares (four squares equaled 1 cm 2 ) registration form where every octave notes' name, each semitone frequency in hertz, and semitone number on the keyboard are shown providing the possibility for more precise registration of the extremes of VRP frequency range and easier calculation of quantitative parameters. 38,39,41,44 The subjects were instructed to demonstrate their extreme capabilities without worrying about the esthetic quality of the sounds produced.…”

“…However, Gramming et al comment on the inconsistent nature of eliciting a vocal range profile. In 1992, 12 the Voice Committee of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics recommended to replace the older term "phonetogram" with the newer term "voice range profile," which is the term we used in this study. Hacki 13 added investigations of the speaking and shouting range profiles to the VRPs and pointed out that the intensities of the speaking and shouting voice can exceed the maximal limits of the voice range profile.…”

“…[7,8] Avrupa Foniatri Birliği Avrupa'da ses ölçümü standardı olarak fonotogramı önermektedir. [9] ve fonotogramın kullanılırlığı ile ilgili çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. [10,11] Fonotogram kişinin ses aralığı dahilinde, yoğunluk ve fundamental frekansla ses sınırlarını tanımlamaktadır.…”
