This article summarizes ideas and role perceptions of a community-oriented school psychologist. Those principles are presented that guided the author in his work as head of the school psychological service in a small community in Israel. This article, which originally appeared in a local bulletin, was an attempt to reach teachers with a new concept of the psychologist's role and to improve communication among the many agents in the educational network. In its present form the article also sets out some guidelines for new psychologists working in school or community settings.
