The country’s fast population expansion and urbanization are the primary issues impeding efficient solid waste management (Achim, 2015), lack of waste transportation systems (Ali et al, 2021; Quartey & Miskolci, 2017), low public awareness (Ali et al, 2021; Amegbe & Hanu, 2016), weak enforcement of environmental regulations and most importantly low technical know-how on proper solid waste management processes (The Netherlands Enterprise Agency, 2019).
