Intermolecular interactions of cytosine DNA nucleoside base with Gallic acid and its Methylgallate and Ethylgallate derivatives

Abstract: Ayodele Akinterinwa, [d] and Anagbogu G. Effa [d] 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzlic acid (gallic acid) and its derivatives exist mostly as secondary metabolites of the phenol family found in plants. Herein, the interaction of gallic acid (GA), methylgallic acid (MGA), ethylgallic acid (EGA) with cytosine (the most reactive part of DNA) has been studied in detail using first principle density functional theory (DFT). Several interaction configurations between the gallic acid and selected derivatives have been investi… Show more

“…These results indicate an increase in drug solubility (with NO 2 /NH 2 doping) in aqueous solutions. The solvation energy (the difference between the optimized energies in the water and gas phases) is used to measure the solubility of a substance in a solvent [36–37] . According to the solvation energy findings, NO2 is more conducive to charge separation than NH 2 .…”

“…The solvation energy (the difference between the optimized energies in the water and gas phases) is used to measure the solubility of a substance in a solvent. [36][37] According to the solvation energy findings, NO2 is more conducive to charge separation than NH 2 . An indicator of a material's solubility in a solvent is the optimum energies in the liquid and gaseous phases.…”

“…Generally, shorter bond distance suggests strong bond between the interacting atoms, making the complex stable and less susceptible to reactions with other chemicals or compounds according to Ref. [ 54 ]. After interaction, a longer bond distance was observed for the studied surfaces ( Table 1 ).…”

“…According to the obtained results, with the increase in the number of oligomers, the values of LHE and radiative lifetimes increase (Due to better π conjugation). This light harvesting efficiency plays a crucial role in the study and development of photovoltaic (PV) properties , It refers to the ability of a photovoltaic device to efficiently convert incident sunlight into useable electrical energy [ [56] , [57] , [58] ]. As stated, before increased in the number of oligomers increases the LHE value such that 3 – Corannulene and 4-Corannulene had the LHE values of 0.041eV and 0.464 eV respectively.…”
