“…After 1989, the main activities focused on the process of transition to a market economy and the problem of abandoned areas seemed to be marginal at that time, so no strategy was developed. Opening of economy, the loss of traditional consumer markets, low competitiveness vis-à-vis foreign producers have led to traditional sectors such as industry and agriculture starting to clear their positions in many sub-sectors, which has led to the emergence of abandoned sites defined as brownfields (Tvrdon and Chmielova, 2021).
