ABSTRAKStomatitis aftosa rekuren (SAR) adalah penyakit rongga mulut yang paling sering dijumpai di masyarakat. Etiologi penyakit ini masih belum jelas, namun banyaknya laporan mengenai rekurensi penyakit ini pada masa sebelum, saat, dan pasca menstruasi memunculkan dugaan adanya pengaruh hormon terhadap rekurensi terjadinya SAR. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana hubungan antara perubahan hormonal yang berkaitan dengan masa menstruasi, khususnya progesteron dan estradiol sebagai hormon estrogen yang paling banyak dijumpai dalam darah. Dengan metode purposive sampling, didapatkan 15 subjek yang bersedia ikut dalam penelitian. Dari kuisioner, diperoleh data sehingga dapat ditentukan karakteristik menstruasi dan karakteristik rekurensi ulser pada subjek. Selanjutnya subjek diminta melakukan pemeriksaan estradiol dan progesteron di laboratorium. Hasilnya, dari 15, hanya satu sampel dengan level estradiol di atas normal (6,7%). Sedangkan sampel yang lain menunjukkan kadar yang normal (93,3%). Untuk level progesteron, tiga sampel (20%) yang normal sedang 12 sampel lain (80%) menunjukkan nilai di bawah normal. Disimpulkan bahwa kadar estradiol penderita SAR, dengan pola menstruasi teratur cenderung normal, sedangkan kadar progesteron kurang dari normal.
