“…For smaller thicknesses of Co layer, the system displays perpendicular magnetization with oscillations between ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) alignments with d M o , reaching the coupling field as high as 3 kOe. [37] For thicker d Co the canted magnetization tuned by the coupling strength was observed.…”

“…Particularly, Co and Au combined system was investigated by various researchers in past due to several novel properties exhibited by this system including perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA), 15,17 magneto‐optical, and magneto resistance properties 19,21,22 . These properties strongly depend on the microstructure parameters of the films making this system technologically important 23,24 . In such a study, the role of microstructure and thickness of Co layer on PMA was investigated By Rizal and Fullerton in as‐prepared and annealed Co/Au multilayers prepared by DC magnetron sputtering, 25 in which they found that all the samples show saturation magnetization close to that in bulk Co. An increase in PMA with annealing was observed due to sharpening of multilayer interface and strain relaxation which normally observed due to annealing.…”

An improvement in film characteristics like film roughness, multilayer periodicity, and texture was also observed after annealing the samples at higher temperature which in turn improves the PMA.…”
