“…The inner diameter and length of pendant-bubble cell are 3.5 and 3.0 cm, respectively. A high-resolution Panasonic photographic camera was connected to a computer for processing the photographic data using a program developed by our laboratory [13][14][15]. The operating temperature was controlled by three Eurotherm temperature controllers with an uncertainty of ±0.1 K. All the pressure gauges were calibrated using a standard RUSKA dead-weight pressure gauge with an uncertainty of ±0.25%.…”

“…The device has been successfully tested in the past to measure interfacial tensions of different systems [13][14][15] and lateral growth rate of hydrate film on the surface of a bubble suspended in aqueous solution [11,12] in our previous work. The experimental procedures for these measurements are briefly described below.…”

“…The operating temperature was controlled by three Eurotherm temperature controllers with an uncertainty of ±0.1 K. All the pressure gauges were calibrated using a standard RUSKA dead-weight pressure gauge with an uncertainty of ±0.25%. Luo et al 14 and Sun et al 10,15 have used this device to measure the interfacial tension data of C 2 H 4 +water system with surfactant, CH 4 +water system with surfactant and CO 2 +crude oil+reservoir water system, respectively. Experimental procedures have been described in our previous papers.…”

“…The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SDS in methane and water solution is about 500 ppm and the interfacial tension remains constant with further increase in SDS concentration. This work was continued by studying the effect of pressure on the CMC of SDS and demonstrated that the CMC and the saturated surface excess concentration decreased with the increase of pressure (Luo et al, 2006). By that time researchers ascribed the effect of SDS on hydrate formation mainly to the formation of micellar aggregates which should help in solubilising the hydrocarbon gases into the micellar core, thus enhancing their solubility in water and hastening the process of hydrate formation (Zhong and Rogers, 2000).…”
