Interdisciplinary Teamwork in a Community SRO

Abstract

During the past year, much attention has been given by the news media to the new State Department of Mental Hygiene's discharging thousands of chronically ill patients from the mental hospitals, to the "streets" of New York, mostly into the single-room-occupancy hotels. Out of the nearly 1,000 City SROs, only 15-20 are staffed with any kind of program to aid the residents of the hotel.
