“…The high frequency of L. nobilis charcoal in La Draga is unusual in other contemporary sites in Northeast of Iberian Peninsula. Indeed, in the few sites where L. nobilis has been documented from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age it rarely represents more than 5% of the charcoal remains (Piqué et al, 2018b). Laurus Nobilis is nearly invisible in pollen records of Lake Banyoles and, in general, in the region due to the poor preservation of its pollen grains.…”

“…Quiescence phases between the eruptive periods were long enough to allow the formation of decimetre-thick paleosols and metric erosive down-cuts (gully erosion and paleo-streams formation). The integration of the UBSU stratigraphy, the absolute chronology, and several studies on the climate changes in the Iberian Peninsula during the last 300 ka (Burjachs and Allué 2003;Morellón et al 2009;González-Sampériz et al 2010;Höbig et al 2012;Puiguriguer et al 2012;Piqué et al 2018;Table 4) revealed that the firstorder unconformities recognized in the central GVF could have a climatic significance. These unconformities may thus be searched for outside the area studied here, where they may Fig.…”
