Globalization has exacerbated the need for engineers who are capable of working in a cross-cultural environment. Multinational companies continuously seek for engineers who are intercultural competent and capable of conducting business successfully in a cross-cultural environment. However, the skills required to be successful in a multicultural environment are difficult to be taught in the traditional classroom. One of the most effective approaches to acquiring intercultural competence skills is through experiential learning. It is, therefore, not surprising that most colleges all over the world are devoting resources towards the internationalization of their classrooms and the campus community. This ensures that students are provided with a diverse environment so they can learn from, and about diverse cultures and develop their intercultural competence skills. Another effective approach is the study abroad programs, which require students to travel to different countries. However, these approaches require a lot of resources that may not be available to the poor and needy students. Therefore, a more cost-effective approach, such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is receiving a lot of attention in recent years. In this study, some engineering technology students participated in an 8-week long COIL program with materials engineering students from different languacultural and geographical region. This study reviews the results and compares the performance of the COIL students with those who were not involved. It was observed that the COIL teams performed significantly better on the project work.

With a globalized and growing world market, companies and educational institutions are getting more and more ambitious to re-orient their work patterns to the international level. Universities reacted to the demands of the globalized economy for flexibility and adaptability by the internationalization of their study programs. Research question: Do stays abroad and therefore intercultural experiences of students actually promote occupational competences and personal development? Design: In order to investigate this relationship, an online survey was employed, and a sample of N = 367 students, who had spent at least one semester abroad before, was recruited. The questions were aimed at measuring characteristics of the participants’ stays abroad, as well as occupational engagement, resilience, intercultural competence personality characteristics related to job performance. Results: The findings suggest that experience abroad can partly enhance employability by serving as an additional job qualification. The results reveal that people who have experienced a stay abroad show higher work and study commitment and are more ambitious regarding their work. Furthermore, people with experience abroad show higher levels of resilience. They are more active concerning problem solving and have higher abilities to maintain emotional distance to work. Additionally, people show the more cultural intelligence the longer they stay abroad. Regarding the manifestation of cultural intelligence, the contact quality with the host country nationals played a significant role. It was evinced that higher contact quality is associated with higher values of cultural intelligence. Regarding occupational performance capacity, the results highlight that participants with a stay abroad are more dominant in an occupational context, i.e., they are more oriented towards superiority above others. Value: The present study contributes to the understanding of relevant personal skills and characteristics in intercultural contexts and of how personality might affect the process of becoming more competent. By demonstrating that stays abroad can increase certain work-related competences for students this study indicates that companies and educational institutions should spend more recourses on fostering experiences abroad of students and workers, in order to stay in tune with the requirements of globalization.

In modern economic conditions the process of optimizing the organization's activities has become an important area of research. Consequently, the issues of choosing the optimal leadership style, within the framework of this problem, require special attention, since they allow to optimize the activities of the leader, and, consequently, the organization as a whole. In the activities of an effective manager, one of the leadership styles dominates. The optimality of one or another leadership style is determined by the current situation and the development of communication and organizational skills. The article presents a brief theoretical review of the main modern psychological research on the problem of communicative and organizational skills; the problem of correlation between the expressiveness of communicative and organizational tendencies with the dominant management style of middle managers is considered. The results of an empirical study are presented and analyzed. The target group for such study is presented by the management personnel training under the program "Strategic Management". 1. Introduction Global changes have taken place in the economy, geopolitics, culture, education and other areas of modern society, which led to the search for joint solutions to global problems of overcoming crisis phenomena that threaten sustainable socioeconomic , political and cultural development. Many sectors of the economy are developing rapidly. Information and multimedia technologies, mobile devices with completely new functions and capabilities constantly come into use, the quality of transmitted multimedia streams improves every year, the knowledge received may not be relevant in a few years. Employee requirements are constantly growing, you need regularly to learn, improve your skills in order to remain in demand, to keep your jobs and succeed in life. Today, workers in many specialties are forced to update and supplement their knowledge regularly in order to do their job properly and remain in demand in the labor market. The ability to quickly find and master the necessary information, often on their own, becomes very important [1], [2].
