With telehealth gaining acceptance as a service delivery method, behavior analysts are now providing services to individuals worldwide. This review highlights the cultural adaptations used in ABA-based telehealth treatments for individuals with ASD outside of the United States. Nine studies met our inclusion criteria and the data were synthesized narratively. All studies reported some type of cultural adaptation, with most studies reporting changes made to the service delivery method. This included using translated materials; training in the language of the client; and matching the trainer in birthplace, ethnicity, or gender with the participants. The adaptations described in published research can serve as a resource for behavior analysts who have interest in global telehealth services. However, given the emerging nature of this area of research, it is challenging to know which adaptations are necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. The review concludes with ideas for research development in this area.

“…Estudos já vêm perseguindo há algum tempo a produção de tecnologias para o treinamento de cuidadores (Barboza et al, 2015;Blackman et al, 2020;Ferreira et al, 2016;Gerencser et al, 2017), assim como o aperfeiçoamento dessas tecnologias (Barboza et al, 2015;Higbee et al, 2016). Paralelamente, há uma outra literatura, de telessaúde, que busca aprimorar tecnologias de ensino de métodos analíticocomportamentais para profissionais (Neely, Hong, Kawamini, Umana, & Kurz, 2020;Neely et al, 2018;Neely, Rispoli, Gerow, & Hong, 2016), visando que todo o treinamento ocorra remotamente. Considerando essas pesquisas em telessaúde e as questões supracitadas sobre a disponibilidade da prestação de serviços em ABA no contexto brasileiro, percebemos que há a necessidade de mais pesquisas sobre esta temática no nosso contexto, o que evidencia a necessidade de pesquisas em que os cuidadores sejam participantes e os principais agentes de uma possível intervenção.…”

O momento que estamos vivendo, de pandemia da COVID-19, exige que sejam tomadas medidas de contenção da propagação do novo coronavírus (Sars-Cov-2) na população. Desde o início da pandemia, o distanciamento social tem sido a principal orientação da Organização Mundial da Saúde para combater a disseminação do coronavírus. Tais condições ressaltam a necessidade de ferramentas para o atendimento e suporte remoto de crianças com desenvolvimento atípico, como aquelas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista. Ferramentas como essas têm se mostrado efetivas e têm suma importância no contexto brasileiro, tendo em vista o reduzido número de profissionais capacitados e o alto custo nas intervenções. Portanto, o presente artigo visou apresentar uma ferramenta (canal no YouTube com a publicação periódica de vídeos instrucionais e didáticos sobre diferentes habilidades) para auxiliar profissionais (psicólogos, pedagogos, fonoaudiólogos, terapeutas ocupacionais etc.) na orientação ou treinamento de cuidadores para intervirem com crianças nas circunstâncias atuais, buscando assim reduzir prejuízos a médio e a longo prazo por uma possível inviabilidade de atendimento presencial para esse público.Palavras-chave: atendimento remoto, canal, intervenção via cuidador, Transtorno do Espectro Autista, telessaúde.

The purpose of these two volume special issues on the use of telehealth in behavioral assessment and intervention is to share research that advances our understanding of the utility of telehealth in behavioral education and considerations for use. Eleven articles spanning synthesis, single-case deigns, group experimental designs and case studies illustrate the growth in the application of telehealth to behavioral assessment and intervention across educational settings and providers. These eleven articles highlight the potential benefit of telehealth in providing access to high-quality behavioral assessment and intervention across home, school and center-based contexts.
