Abstract: New therapeutic options such as the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) have significantly improved morbidity and mortality of HIV-infected patients. Consequently, age-related diseases become more manifest. In addition, HIV infection itself causes certain cardiovascular morbidity.
