The importance of this research was to highlight the use of interactive digital presentations in the classroom that allow students to interact with the lesson content, work independently, and answer various questions presented on these interactive slides. We used the Pear Deck add-on to create these interactive presentations. The research had a quasiexperimental design and was conducted with two seventh-grade classes in the primary school “Naim Frasheri” in Prishtina, where one of them played the role of the experimental group while the other had the role of the control group. Data collection instruments were used in two tests (pre-test and post-test), a questionnaire for students in the experimental class, and the method of observation in both classes. From the data collected from the questionnaire, we measured the positive effects on students’ motivation to learn and the positive effects on achievement were measured by testing students, while our attitudes as a teacher were reflected through the observation process. The results of this study have shown that the use of interactive digital presentations has a positive effect on the memorization of concepts and students’ engagement and that this kind of presentations are more efficient to use during the technology class compared to traditional learning methods.

Digital systems have become increasingly common in recent years. This fact accompanied by ever growing complexity of contemporary digital systems puts the new and stringent requirements on the education in this field. In order to be able to keep pace with technological innovations and changes, the future digital designers not only have to be skillful in the practical use of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) techniques but, at the same time, they have to possess solid foundations in the form of detailed knowledge and understanding of logic design basic issues. Unconventional teaching approaches and techniques are therefore required, especially in introductory courses, to make the courses' content more accessible and visible to students, and to speed up the experiments with their designs. Specially developed new intuitive tools for circuit simulation and visualization have proved their advantage in hands-on labs, allowing at the same time to ease and speed up the process of students' practical skills testing and assessing. On the other hand, the original interactive presentation tools enable to implement the new ways of content presentation based on the active learning techniques. In this contribution the research outcomes, experience with the developed and available teaching tools in the digital systems design field will be presented.

This paper deals with the design and implementation of networking support into presentation system. The analysis of the available presentation systems and possible sending techniques led us to the conclusion, that multicast is the best choice for implementing real-time one-to-many communication. The new system was designed to increase delivery reliability missing in UDP protocol, which is the most commonly used for multicast addressing. This system allows application to receive presentation updates made by presenter even if there are short network failures and updating packets are not received immediately. Such a communication makes it possible to share thoughts in real-time without the need for the participants to be located in the same place.I. 978-1-4673-5122-5/12/$31.00 ©2012 IEEE
