“…While neurotypicals showed negative correlations between VMHC and IQ in the Executive Networks, the group of participants with ADHD showed negative correlations in the Visuospatial Network only. Of special interest, previous studies described an interaction between auditory and visual processing, with reports suggesting the existence of a dual interplay between these processes, and the emergence of both interaction and segregation in brain areas related to these functions during late neurodevelopment (Berto et al, 2021 ). Moreover, studies have shown altered sensory processing in ADHD for what visual and auditory processing are concerned (Dunn & Bennett, 2002 ; Ghanizadeh, 2011 ; Schulze et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Importantly, to create experimental stimuli, all four 5s synthetic exemplars were cut from the beginning to the end into excerpts of different lengths, either short (40ms), medium (209ms) or long (478ms). These lengths were chosen based on results in previous behavioral investigations (Berto et al, 2021;McDermott, Schemitsch, and Simoncelli, 2013). Excerpts were equalized to the same root mean square amplitude (RMS= 0.1) and had a sampling rate of 20kHz.…”

“…A 20ms ramp (half-hann window) was applied to each excerpt, 10ms at the beginning and 10ms at the end, to avoid edge artifacts (McDermott, Schemitsch, and Simoncelli, 2013). The stimuli used here were validated in a previous study (Berto et al, 2021) in which we replicated the original finding (McDermott, Schemitsch, and Simoncelli, 2013). The experimental stimuli presented for each run were randomly drawn from all available excerpts according to the experiment requests (see below).…”
