Interaction of the IoT Traffic Generated by a Smart City Segment with SDN Core Network

Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to test IoT management system based on SDN core network, as well as interaction IoT traffic with SDNswitsches. To conduct investigation of management system and network infrastructure behavior we carried out several IoT traffic tests, which were generated based on partnership project oneM2M specification. In this work, we considered "Smart city" model for Central district of Saint-Petersburg (Russia). During the testing of the network infrastructure were identified several p… Show more

“…The fundamental idea of SDN is to provide a feature to manage the traffic of the network in a software manner. SDN can be an essential technical feature of IoT, and research related to institute SDN into an IoT environment is currently underway [61,62]. SDN separates the control plane and data plane from the network flow to enable programming of the network.…”

“…However, for a sufficiently long route this leads to unnecessary delays for other vehicles at the crossroads, as well as a long waiting time for ambulances. To reduce the duration of the waiting time for vehicles of regular clusters, as well as to ensure timely movement of ambulances, we propose a model based on the use of VANETs, AR applications, and the SDN architecture ( Figure 2) [12]. Note that in the proposed architecture, the UAV performs functions of an SDN controller, peripheral modules of which are located in priority cluster vehicles.…”
