Interaction of Anticancer Drug Methyl Caffeate with DNA Investigated by Electrochemical and Spectroscopic Methods

Abstract: The interaction of methyl caffeate with herring sperm DNA was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry and ultraviolet absorption spectrometry. Methyl caffeate had a well-defined electrochemical signal in 0.50 M acetate buffer (pH 4.6) involving two electrons and two protons. The binding of methyl caffeate to herring sperm DNA resulted in a series of changes in the electrochemical behavior, giving a considerable decrease in the peak currents and a negative shifts in the peak potenti… Show more

“…As shown in Figure a, the high-frequency OPA Caffest spectrum in vacuum contains at least one of the peaks of the methyl caffeate by Wang et al at 213 and 300 nm. For example, the band at 300 nm present in our panoramic OPA absorption spectrum in Figure is also identically present at the high-frequency outlier in Figure a, which in addition has a shoulder at ca.…”

“…This is an indication that the low-frequency outlier conformation also has a secondary high-frequency transition component. The conformation As shown in Figure 8a, the high-frequency OPA Caffest spectrum in vacuum contains at least one of the peaks of the methyl caffeate by Wang et al 67 at 213 and 300 nm.
