Interaction in the Molten System Rb 2O-P2O5-TiO2-NiO. Crystal Structure of the Langbeinite-Related Rb 2Ni0.5Ti1.5(PO4)3. -The formation of complex phosphates is investigated in melts containing Rb 2CO3, H3PO4, TiO2, and NiO at different molar ratios of Rb:P = 0.5-1.3, Ti:P = 0.15, Ti:Ni = 1.0 at 1073-953 K (Pt crucible, 1273 K, 3 h). Aside of the known phases RbTi2(PO4)3, Rb2Ni0.5Ti1.5(PO4)3, and RbNiPO4, a new phase Rb 2Ni0.5Ti1.5(PO4)3 is obtained which crystallizes in the cubic space group P213 (Z = 4, single crystal XRD). The phosphate exhibits a langbeinite-like structure which is built up from mixed (Ni/Ti)O 6-octahedra and PO4-tetrahedra with Rb located in closed cavities of the 3D framework. -(STRUTYNSKA*, N.
