“…Recently, a novel technique, cardiac magnetic resonance feature-tracking (CMR-FT), has been regarded as a more sensitive tool for measuring myocardial deformation as an indicator of subclinical myocardial dysfunction [7]. CMR-FT has been increasingly used for myocardial strain evaluation in various types of cardiomyopathy, such as cardiac amyloidosis [8], hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [9], and dilated cardiomyopathy [10], and the reproducibility of CMR-FT has been well demonstrated [11]. However, analyses of the role of LA and RV deformation in DCM by CMR-FT, especially with coexisting hypertension, have rarely been reported.…”

“…Until now, only few studies examined segmental strain in patients with infarction [25,26], possibly because reduced accuracy and reproducibility of segmental strain values was reported for optical ow-based FT methods in the past [27]. The FT software used in this study is based on a non-rigid algorithm for image registration and segmentation and showed higher reliability and interobserver agreement in segmental strain than software based on optical ow methods [21,22]. In line with current study results, GPLS, GPCS and GPRS was reduced in our patient cohort compared to healthy controls [30].…”

“…Myocardial feature tracking (FT) was introduced for myocardial strain quanti cation using routinely acquired steady-state free precession (SSFP) cine sequences as input [9,[17][18][19]. Based on optical ow methods [20] or non-rigid algorithm for image registration and segmentation [21,22], myocardial borders can be identi ed and displacement of myocardial segments can be tracked throughout the cardiac cycle.…”

“…We used feature-tracking software (2D-Cardiac Performance global and regional longitudinal strain for both ventricles. The software uses optical flow technology (Dobrovie et al, 2019) and calculated GLS by averaging the values of six segments in the LV and in the respectively, obtained in the 4CH view. Because it is at times conceptually difficult to grasp negative strain values, we used absolute numbers to describe longitudinal RV strain, denoting −22% longitudinal strain as a "greater" strain value than −20% longitudinal strain, according to the EACVI consensus document regarding standardized deformation imaging (Voigt et al, 2015).…”
