Inter-Domain Analysis of Smart Grid Domain Dependencies Using Domain-Link Matrices

Abstract: Developers of the smart grid have proposed a number of independent smart grid architectures. This has resulted in a lack of common vision and understanding of the common smart grid reference architecture. In particular, there is a lack of understanding of various inter-domain relationships and dependencies among technical and business domains within the smart grid. This paper presents an inter-domain analysis of these complex dependencies among the business and technical domains of the smart grid using Domain-… Show more

“…It provides consumers with the ability to use electricity more efficiently and provides utilities with the ability to detect problems on their systems and operate them more effectively [17,18]. AMI enables consumer-friendly efficiency concepts like "Prices to Devices" to work like this: Assuming that energy is priced on what it costs in near real-time-price signals are relayed to "smart" home controllers or end-consumer devices like thermostats, washer/dryers, and refrigerators-the home's major energy-consumers [19][20][21]. The devices, in turn, process the information based on consumers' learned wishes and power accordingly.…”

“…As the development of internet and cloud computing technology, as the arrival of big data era, the electric energy collection data will increase sharply under the environment of intelligence network; it requires better reliability and instantaneity, which far more exceeded the processing scope of traditional grid electric energy monitoring [2]. In China, most of the construction of traditional information platforms for power industry adopts the expensive giant servers, uses disk array storage; database uses relational database system; operational application adopts tightly coupled suit which lead to bad system expendability, high operating cost and hardly adapt the necessary of reliability and instantaneity on intelligence network electric energy acquisition.…”
