Intentional replantation of a hopeless tooth with the combination of platelet rich plasma, bioactive glass graft material and non‐resorbable membrane: a case report

Abstract: Intentional replantation can be an alternative choice for periodontally involved hopeless tooth at least for a period of time. This technique may help to restore an original tooth to function in the mouth instead of replacing it with prosthesis. The combination of one or more techniques currently available for periodontal therapy may have the potential to enhance clinical results as compared to any of the techniques used alone. In this case report, intentional replantation was combined with regenerative techni… Show more

“…For example, the treatment of periapical inflammatory lesions with a bone substitute associated with a PRP gels was often described, even if the true impact of the PRP on the healing remained quite difficult to assess [137,138]. A last original application of PRP gels in periodontal regeneration was to coat an avulsed tooth with the PRP before replantation in the avulsion socket [139,140]. This concept is interesting, but its clinical relevance should be more carefully evaluated.…”

“…Studies of intentional replantation in periodontally involved hopeless teeth with Class III mobility, more than 50% bone loss and deep pockets after tetracycline – HCl treatment had shown good results in bone gain and a reduction in pocket depth at the end of 6 months. [8]…”

“…who reported significant bone gain in a case of intentional replanted periodontally involved hopeless teeth with Class III mobility when it was intentionally replanted with PRP, bioactive glass graft material and non-resorbable polytetrafluoroethylene membrane, 12 month follow-up showed significant bone formation and reduction in mobility.
