Intention to Use E-Payments from the Perspective of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT): Evidence from Yemen

Abstract: This study explores the challenges facing the current e-payment systems and investigates the main factors that support using the e-payment system. This study used a cross-sectional approach. An online survey was conducted on Yemeni consumers as part of the collection of data. The data from 486 questionnaires were analyzed using smartPLS4 and Jamovi software for structural model analysis and statistical analysis. According to the PLS-SEM results, the structural model shows that R2 is 0.757, which explains the v… Show more

“…It can be concluded that performance expectancy positively affects Behavioral Intention. The results of this study are consistent with research conducted by [4,[18][19][20][21], which explains that the Performance Expectancy variable has a significant influence on the Behavioral Intention variable. The relationship between the hypothesis and the existing theory in this study is that Performance Expectancy affects Behavioral Intention, namely how high a person believes that using a system will help him gain job performance benefits.…”

“…Based on Table 6, the significance value of the performance expectancy variable is 0.000 <0.05, which can be concluded that performance expectancy positively affects behavioral intentions. The results of this study are in line with research conducted by [9,10,11,30] which state that the variable perceived usefulness or performance expectancy has a significant influence on behavioral intentions or intentions of use.…”

“…Some variables from the UTAUT model are believed to be able to encourage someone to have the intention of using the system. Just as performance expectancy has a positive effect on behavior intentions [9][10][11], effort expectancy does not affect behavior intentions [12]. Social influence affects behavioral intentions [13], but their research [14] found that social impact does not have a positive effect on behavioral intentions.…”

“…According to (Linge et al, 2023), UTAUT is the most popular model or theory used to explain the general public's adoption and usage of new technology. UTAUT provides a framework to illustrate and explain how consumers or the public respond to emerging technologies and systems (Alduais & Al-Smadi, 2022) (Latifah et al, n.d.).…”
