Intelligent network management for customer controlled services

Abstract

J un'ichi KU W AB AY A SHI Hiroshi ITOHNTT Network Systems Development Center Making a network intelligent is a key factor in providing various kinds of telecommunications services. In particular, a network system must have service management capability for customers to control services. This paper describes an intelligent network for customer-controlled services. Customer-controlled service concept is first introduced in terms of a network hierarchy and functional assignment, and the basic network architecture is presented. Then, a customer control process is examined. Finally, customer-controlled services are illustrated by a practical example of a private virtual network service.
