IntroductionKnowledge adaptation is gaining widespread attention as a strategic tool for the competitiveness of organizations both in the management literature and in popular press. A knowledge base (KB) is a technology used to store complex structured and unstructured information used by a computer system. The initial use of the term was in connection with expert systems which were the first knowledgebased systems. However, knowledge creation and management is not simply the capture and storage of information. It also requires the storage and processing of associations (rules) through which meaning can be derived from the items of information and can be stored in explicit and observable form.
