Intelligent Energy Efficient Wireless Communacation System for Street Lighting

A novel two-axis solar tracker with parallel mechanism is proposed in this paper. A dynamic model is derived by using the virtual work principle and the consumed energy including the mechanical energy and motor energy loss is computed. Taking Beijing as the working location of the solar tracker, the energy consumptions of the parallel solar tracker and its corresponding serial solar tracker are compared based on the premise that the proposed solar tracker and its corresponding serial solar tracker have similar static stiffness. Mechanical energy consumption of the proposed tracker is reduced by 7.55% compared to the serial solar tracker. The motor energy loss of the parallel solar tracker is also significantly lower. This simple and low-energy consumption solar tracker is a good alternative to the traditional solar tracker with large energy consumption.

The work is devoted to the development of an efficient photovoltaic installation with automated wireless monitoring based on the LabView software. Long-distance communication technology - LoRa was used to wirelessly transmit data on the output characteristic states of the photovoltaic installation, storage battery and built-in sensors. This module operates at 433 MHz and transmits small data packets with low power consumption. This makes the stand-alone system energy efficient compared to similar wireless installations. The graphical software LabView was chosen to monitor the state of the developed system. The paper shows a block diagram of an automated wireless system, an operational algorithm of the external transmitting part of the installation, as well as electrical circuits of the transmitting and receiving control units. As a result of the work, a photovoltaic system with an automated wireless monitoring system and graphical data display was developed. The developed automated complex is more efficient and easy to use in comparison with other systems.

Real-time monitoring systems and sensors are not complete without wireless data transmission modules. Improving energy efficiency requires examining various system parameters that affect the power consumption of transmitting and receiving devices. The most important parameter of any autonomous wireless network is its uptime. In this work, we used LoRa wireless modules on the SX1278 chip manufactured by Semtech to determine their power consumption in various operating modes. The obtained data were used to build a consumption model of the device when connected to a receiver. Three operating modes are considered: transmit mode, receive mode and sleep mode. In an ideal communication channel, all transmitted data reaches the receiver with 100% probability. In a real situation, data reaches the receiver with a certain probability, depending on the communication channel, transmission power, distance to the addressee, and network parameters. In this work, the occurrence of an error is random. In this case, the occurrence of an error during reception entails a lack of confirmation of receipt or a request for re-sending data. Sending data again increases the power consumption of the device and, consequently, decreases the operating time of the wireless device. This paper shows the dependences of the operating time on various initial monitored parameters of the device, such as: confirmation timeout, packet length, time of one transmission cycle and the maximum number of retransmissions in one cycle. The developed model for predicting the consumption of the device can be used in the design of autonomous wireless sensor monitoring networks.
