Intelligent ambience between Heaven and Hell: A salvation?

Abstract: Questioning gender is about taking an active, critical role in the technological design of our daily behaviour. It is a deconstruction of the oppositions that exist in the discourses of Ambient Intelligence designers, the ICT industry and computer scientists. What underlies the assumption that Ambient Intelligence will, by disappearing into our environment, bring humans both an easy and entertaining life? The gender perspective can uncover power relations within the promotion and realisation of Ambient Intelli… Show more

“…Worth noting, however, is that most of the issues related to the forecasting of sociotechnical visions-and a plethora of other inherent limitations-have also been a subject of much debate concerning AmI ( [87][88][89][90][91][92][93]). AmI is described by Information Society Technologies Advisory Group of the European Commission [94] as a vision of the future of information society where "humans will be surrounded by intelligent interfaces supported by computing and networking technology which is everywhere.…”

“…Machines, robots, and other facilities that are used in the production and logistics systems must be improved and equipped with smart technologies to maximize functionality and performance through physical and cyber connections with high monitoring and controlling capacities [87][88][89][90]. Considering the scopes of Industry 5.0, this objective signifies the interaction between humans and robots/machines.…”

“…There is an interesting less visible, a machine/human intra-action that creates phenomenas of exclusion, and this grows more common since technology becomes ubiquities. This makes threshold values an interesting area of research relation to human/machine and inclusion (Crutzen, 2005). This is also the reason why the technology in the vague event is deconstructed, and why components are kept as simple as possible in order to engage in grasping and reaching into technology, and making the relatings mutual, undetermined and a kind of free improvisational practice (Haraway, 2003, 6).…”
