Intelligent Agents for Human Behavior Modeling as Support to Operations

Abstract: Goal of the present paper is providing support to operations planning and management in complex scenarios. The authors are mainly focused on South Asia region, which is subject of experimental analysis by running an Intelligent Agents -driven HLA Federation. Simulation of investments and operations over an asymmetric mission environment with several parties, insurgents, terrorists and dynamic social framework is the aim. The scenario has various degrees of freedom and M&S enables evaluation of human behavior e… Show more

“…S3, S10 and S11 are addressed for firefighting in administrative buildings; therefore, they are directed to all occupants (all team) of a given establishment. In addition, S9 and S14 studies are focused on all crew on ships and oil rigs (Bruzzone et al, 2013) and all onshore drilling field workers (Gallerati et al, 2017). In these studies (5 -36%), games are intended for all occupants of a given facility.…”

“…Indeed, human behavior modeling is a complex interdisciplinary topic, as actions of single individuals and especially of groups and crowds could be very difficult forecast. To address such issue, a common approach could be utilization of advanced Intelligent Agents (IA), which in such scenario could be capable to reproduce behavior of single individuals and of social groups (Bruzzone et al, 2014;Massei & Tremori, 2014).…”

“…Decision‐making exercises seem to be an important step for young and novice individuals of the maritime field to analyze complex situations and make satisfactory decisions [9]. According to this, serious games in MET should be evaluated as an effective training tool that can provide preparation for both normal daily activities and unexpected difficult situations [7]. Especially with GBL, training support can be given to both formal educations given in schools and the training given in ships [48].…”
