Intelligence Amplification Framework for Enhancing Scheduling Processes

Abstract: The scheduling process in a typical business environment consists of predominantly repetitive tasks that have to be completed in limited time and often containing some form of uncertainty. The intelligence amplification is a symbiotic relationship between a human and an intelligent agent. This partnership is organized to emphasize the strength of both entities, with the human taking the central role of the objective setter and supervisor, and the machine focusing on executing the repetitive tasks. The output e… Show more

“…The experimental use and potential impact of IA in the logistics is demonstrated using the serious game Synchromania by Dobrkovic et al (2016) and to support the process of literature reviewing (Dobrkovic et al, 2018). The work done in SynchromodalIT is extended by actually implementing IA in operational environments.…”

“…The main aim of our system design is to automate the dynamic planning activities, but dynamic events may also change the stakeholders' preferences during the actual execution of the initial plan. Therefore, our system should include a symbiotic relationship where intelligent agents focus on task execution, while human stakeholders can modify objectives, constraints and decision parameters [25].…”

“…The agent successfully learned how to allocate products according to the requirements prioritized by the company. Using intelligence amplification [26], warehouse employees were able to use the agent and increase their slotting performance. The model was tested in an experimental setting and validated using expert opinions.…”
