Inteligencia emocional y desempeño del docente en el contexto pospandemia

Abstract

The educational context after the Covid-19 pandemic, new changes in teacher-student interaction. In this way, the soft skills developed online play an important role in the performance of teachers during their classes. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to know the relationship between emotional intelligence and teacher performance in the context of postpandemic university education. The research followed a quantitative, correlational and non-experimental cross-sectional methodology, the effective sample consisted of 182 university professors from the city of Lima, Peru with an average age of 40.2 years. The results indicate that emotional intelligence is positively and significantly related to teacher performance (r=.331), likewise the three dimensions of emotional intelligence are also positively linked to performance. Women have higher scores in all dimensions of emotional intelligence compared to men. It is expected that the results will be considered by the Educational Quality and TeacherWell-being unit of the universities for future teacher training or improvement programs, which in turn would configure an opportunity for improvement for the professional performance of teachers.
