Atkinson bewies in seiner Arbeit [2] zwei Stabilitätstheoreme für Fredholmoperatoren in Banachräumen: (l) ein Fredholmoperator ist stabil gegenüber einer kompakten Störung, (2) ein Fredholmoperator ist stabil gegenüber einer hinreichend kleinen stetigen Störung. Während es ohne weiteres möglich war, (1) auf allgemeine topologische lineare Räume zu verallgemeinern, bereitet die Übertragung von (2) auf allgemeinere als vollständige j^-normierte Räume Schwierigkeiten. Pietsch in [13] und Gramsch in [8] gaben schon für einfache lokalkonvexe Räume Gegenbeispiele an; Washenberger zeigte in [19], daß für jeden lokalkonvexen Raum mit schwacher Topologie die Aussage (2) falsch ist. Um trotzdem die Aussage noch zu retten, schränkte Pietsch in [13] seine Betrachtungen auf beschränkte Operatoren in folgenvollständigen lokalkonvexen Räumen ein. Er bewies mit Hilfe algebraischer Methoden die Gültigkeit von (2) in diesem Fall; es ist ein Nachteil seiner Beweise, daß der topologische Hintergrund nicht sichtbar wird.Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, den Geltungsbereich des zweiten Stabilitätstheorems zu erweitern; dabei benutzen wir eine andere Beweismethode als Pietsch: unsere Hauptstützen sind der Darstellungssatz für Fredholmoperatoren und ein Satz über die Offenheit von (ein-bzw. zweiseitig) invertierbaren Operatoren. Als wichtigste Folgerung daraus erhalten wir die Stetigkeit des Index.In § l stellen wir einige wichtige Ergebnisse über Fredholmoperatoren in £(£"), E topologischer linearer Raum, zusammen: äquivalente Eigenschaften von Fredholmoperatoren, einige interessante Tatsachen über den Index von Fredholmoperatoren und den Darstellungssatz, der für normierte Räume auf Nikolskij zurückgeht; er besagt, daß sich jeder Fredholmoperator als Summe eines einseitig invertierbaren Operators mit endlichem Index und eines kompakten Operators darstellen läßt.
