Integration strategy of on-machine measurement (OMM) and numerical control (NC) machining for the large thin-walled parts with surface correlative constraint

Abstract: There is a kind of large thin-walled parts in aerospace industry, the machining target surface of which is tightly associated with another specific surface (named correlative surface). And it is always the primary machining objective. However, the preformed correlative surface is significantly different from its original design model due to large profile and thickness errors. Thus, part-referenced machining is necessary to ensure the correlative constraint accuracy. In this article, an integration strategy of … Show more

“…The experimental results indicate that the reconstruction of NC program can effectively improve the motion accuracy of NC machine tools. Liu et al [15] proposed a comprehensive compensation method for machining errors of aircraft thin-walled parts. The method acquires the contour information of parts by mechanical scanning method and then establishes a unified target for model reconstruction.…”

“…In the field of machining, part-referenced machining is necessary to ensure the correlative constraint accuracy. Thus, the measurement and processing needs to be closely combined and constantly adjusted [1]. In other words, after the workpiece is processed into semi-finished products on a machine tool, it is necessary to obtain the workpiece contour on a measuring machine, and then compare it with the design model to estimate the machining allowance.…”
