Integration of PV Sources in Prosumer Installations Eliminating Their Negative Impact on the Supplying Grid and Optimizing the Microgrid Operation

Abstract: This paper concerns the mitigation of voltage disturbances deteriorating power quality and disrupting the operation of LV distribution grids due to the high penetration of PV energy sources in prosumer installations. A novel control strategy for 3-phase 4-wire PV inverters is proposed, which ensures the transmission of PV active power and simultaneous compensation of load unbalance and reactive power, making the prosumer installation balanced and purely active. It results in the balance of phase voltages and t… Show more

“…The authors of [5], also focusing on the issue of RES integration in power grids, address the issue of voltage-disturbances mitigation in low-voltage (LV) distribution grids with a high penetration of photovoltaic (PV) generators in prosumer installations. In detail, they propose a simple and costless control method for 3-and 4-wire PV inverters, allowing for simultaneous PV active power transfer and compensation of load unbalance and reactive power.…”

“…This model can minimize voltage deviation, reactive power deviation, and the total reactive power generated while considering operational constraints. In [17], a control strategy for PV inverters is presented to mitigate voltage disturbances due to high PV energy penetration in low-voltage distribution grids. This approach addresses the PV active power transmission, load balance, and reactive power compensation, ultimately reducing losses.…”
