Integration of human factors principles in LARG organizations – a conceptual model

Abstract: Nowadays many companies are undergoing organizational transformations in order to meet the changing market demands. Thus, in order to become more competitive, supply chains (SC) are adopting new management paradigms to improve SC performance: lean, agile, resilient and green (LARG paradigms). The implementation of new production paradigms demands particular care with the issues related with Human Factors to avoid health and safety problems to workers and losses to companies. Thus, the successful introduction o… Show more

“…Employees have a crit ical role to play, as the interface between strategy set at the top and operational execution. Their skillset is a valuable resource for im plementing new initiatives within an organization (Figueira et al, 2012;Vlajic et al, 2012). As pointed out by Blackhurst et al (2011, p. 380), if employees are well educated and properly trained, they are equipped with the "necessary skills to know when it is appropriate to take action," when it is reasonable to stock inventory, or w hom to communicate with.…”

“…Dues et al () focused on the removal of waste in all operational processes like overproduction, unnecessary inventory and motion, delay, lead time, logistics, inappropriate processing, and defects. For example, in the case of the automobile industry, there are several innovation models to meet the green standards of the state and produce fuel‐efficient models such as e‐bikes (Figueira et al, ; Browne & Tibrewala, ; Piecyk & McKinnon, ). This is relevant to production technologies and approaches including the JIT (Golhar & Stamm, ; Nehete, Narkhede, & Mahajan, ).…”

“…The fourSC paradigms i.e., lean, agile, resilient and green have extensively been researched independently, but recently, researchers have emphasized on integration of these four paradigms into one LARG paradigm [11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. " However, the simultaneous integration of lean, agile, resilient, and green paradigms in SCM may help SC's to become more efficient, streamlined and sustainable" [11].…”
