With recent technological advancements in energy systems, power production using wind and solar-based renewable energy systems has become more viable. This paper presents the integration of solar energy systems as a power source displacing green house gas intensive electricity production in Saskatchewan. For this study, facilities from the industry, which are dispersed throughout Saskatchewan, are taken as case systems. Solar data from diverse parts of the province are collected and analysed to calculate installed capacity and amount of carbon emissions reduction at those particular locations. Hosting capacity analysis is performed in selected individual sites to ensure that the current grid can accommodate bulk solar generation. Finally, the results from economic analysis reflect the viability of integrating renewable energies at a specific location.
