Abstract: The nursing academic, who is responsible for settingthe playful conditions, creates a safe and permissive learning environment, which in turn facilitates the student’s ability to engage in fun exploratorylearning activities. It is hypothesised that the use of a humanistic stancewith playful engagement such as, projective small world play, will facilitateoptimal teaching conditions in the higher education sector.
