Integrating Network Pharmacology and Experimental Verification to Explore the Mechanism of Effect of Zuojin Pills in Pancreatic Cancer Treatment

Abstract: Background and Aim: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most malignant tumors worldwide. Zuojin pills (ZJP), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, which can treat a variety of cancers. However, the active compounds present in ZJP and the potential mechanisms through which ZJP acts against pancreatic cancer have not been thoroughly investigated. Methods: Data on pancreatic cancer-related genes, bioactive compounds, and potential targets of ZJP were downloaded from public databases. Bioinformatics analysis, … Show more

“…abcc.ncifcrf.gov/) is an online, freely available bioinformatics database for differential gene functional and pathway enrichment analysis. [22] The obtained potential targets, entered into DAVID, are analyzed online using the Gene Ontology functional annotations (GO) in which the potential targets are involved and the signaling pathways (KEGG) in which they are involved. [23] The results were visualized by plotting the results of the analysis into bubble maps [24] through the mic share database.…”

“…Network pharmacology, a novel comprehensive analysis tool based on large databases, can help researchers reveal the therapeutic mechanisms of TCM compounds by predicting the potential relationships between drugs, targets, and diseases ( 19 ). The purpose of this study was to detect the chemical components of HMMCR by liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometric (LC-ESI-MS/MS), predict the intervention pathways of HMMCR for NSCLC through network pharmacology, and further verify the underlying molecular mechanism through in vitro experiments.…”

“…Currently, surgical resection remains the only option to cure pancreatic cancer. However, adjuvant chemotherapy has made significant progress in improving the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer ( Wang et al, 2021a ). Adjuvant chemotherapy regimens include FOLFIRINOX [5-fluorouracil (FU), folate, irinotecan and oxaliplatin (OX)] and gemcitabine combined with sodium protein, sodium and paclitaxel and have been shown to prolong overall survival ( Mizrahi et al, 2020 ).…”
