Abstract

Mental health, crucial for societal well-being, is in decline, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. MDD stands out due to its rising prevalence, affecting millions and characterized by varied factors such as genetics and environment. Stigma remains a barrier, hindering treatment and care. AI, particularly ML, ANN, and NLP, has emerged as a transformative force in mental health research. It offers vast potential for accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment by processing complex data and identifying patterns beyond human capability. Organoids offer advanced models for studying MDD, providing personalized insights due to their origin from human stem cells. They replicate the human organ structure more accurately than traditional models, enabling better disease research and treatment evaluation. While AI and organoids promise to revolutionize mental health care, ethical considerations around data privacy and the human element in treatment are essential. Future trends point to the creation of 'super clinicians' and virtual therapists, indicating a shift towards more autonomous, personalized care. However, the field must proceed with caution, maintaining a balance between technological advancement and ethical responsibility.
