“…This platform was applied in a public rental housing project in Hong Kong. Altaf, Bouferguene, Liu, Al-Hussein, and Yu (2018) proposed a simulation-based optimization model for an integrated planning and control system for the prefabrication of 2D panels. The system could efficiently generate optimal production schedules and the resulting waiting time, idle time, and station utilization data.…”

“…Some foreign scholars focus on the application of BIM technology to improve the intelligent level of prefabricated component production process and achieve fine management so as to improve the efficiency of prefabricated components production [6,7]. Mohammed and Liu made use of the visualization advantage of BIM technology, integrated the schedule plan, and guided by the task of the factory, proposed the BIM-4D simulation framework to carry out fine management on the production process, quality, and quantity of prefabricated components in the factory but lacked in the development of BIM technology platform [16]. In addition, Azimi et al put forward a schedule plan for the production of prefabricated components outputted by the MCMPro and imported them into the process of the whole optimization model.…”

“…Altaf et al [16] e production planning and control system of prefabricated components based on BIM-RFID technology is proposed e system is limited to the theoretical framework, and the improvement of actual production efficiency needs to be verified Li et al [34] e RFID technology is used to track the construction components and improve the construction schedule…”

“…Two papers discussed how algorithms can automate production processes, optimizing planning, control and scheduling in off-site construction facilities. The solution implemented in a prefabricated homes factory is based on an optimization algorithm which enables real-time scheduling and performance monitoring using the production data collected by radio frequency identification (RFID), whose noisy is automatically removed by a RANSAC model before being used in a simulation model and then, integrated with the optimization algorithm (Altaf et al 2018). The other paper uses an optimization modelling algorithm to define the optimal product sequencing considering resource sharing and job sequencing for a concrete panels factory (Arashpour et al 2016).…”

“…When applied to the AEC industry as a holistic system, the effectiveness of strategies involving lean construction, automated technologies and modular building systems has been confirmed by research (Altaf et al 2018;Tillmann et al 2015). Individually, each of these strategies aims to increase the productivity and quality of the construction industry.…”
