Integrated potentiostat for detection of Chagas disease

Abstract: The design of a low-power-integrated potentiostat that measures electric current intended for a Chagas disease detection application is presented. This circuit can generate and measure currents from 1 to 10 μA with a relative error under 5%. The remaining part of the circuit consumes only 1.5 μA. The circuit was designed using the 0.6 μm XC06 technology from the X-FAB, with a total silicon area of 0.24 mm 2 (without pads).

“…A higher level of integration is achieved with the integration of the potentiostat, the electrodes, and the mesoporous film in the same silicon die. There are some very interesting works about the integration of working electrode arrays with a potentiostat in the same device, for health applications, with modified surfaces, or for multiple uses. In this case, foundry facilities could be used to integrate a mesoporous film in these electrodes, considering that the precursors and condensation temperature can be adapted to its standard integrated microfabrication processes. However, the most serious problem lies in the integration of the reference electrode, since there are no studies in the literature that achieve a satisfactory integration of a RE in an IC.…”
