Integrated Photonic Device for Wavelength-Stable Laser Oscillation and Simultaneous Input Coupling

Abstract: A guided-mode-resonance device for both narrowband retroreflection and waveguide input coupling was designed and fabricated for operation wavelength of 1550 nm. It consists of a focusing grating coupler (FGC) integrated in a waveguide cavity resonator constructed by a pair of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) on a reflection substrate. The size of the FGC was 31 × 20 µm 2 . The device was used as a laser mirror of an external cavity laser. The oscillation wavelength was fixed to the retroreflection wavelengt… Show more

“…demonstrated the non‐line‐of‐sight (NLOS) DUV communication‐based strong scattering properties of DUV. [ 139 ] To achieve strong signal generation, they developed a high‐power 265 nm single‐chip DUV LED over 500 mW which enabled accurate signaling over long distances of 80 m in a sunlight environment. Based on the nonspecular scattering properties of DUV light, they demonstrated NLOS signal communication at data rates as high as 1 Mbps.…”
