Visualization of students’ cognitive knowledge in digital concept mapping

The concept map, derived by Novak and Gowin [6] on the basis of Ausubel's assimilation theory [7] aiming to increase students' opportunities of meaningful learning, contains both cognitive and meaningful components of learning based on the active linking of new knowledge with previous knowledge that is critically connected and stored in long-term memory [8]. Emphasis is placed on the structure of the map and the correct naming of the relationships between the concepts found in the map, which form the content of the student's knowledge.…”
